Stories That ARE MEANT To Be Told

Well fans, 2016 is off and running. Ready or not, here it is; another year in the books and another year of resolutions I swear to keep. This includes the utilization of a new activity tracker (my sleep habits are WORSE than expected), being an activist for my beloved communities (geographically, societal) and writing exciting, REAL conversations on my blog (Welcome!).

As I think back on consultations, meetings and casuals conversations in 2015; I continue to reiterate the same words. How you set yourself up for success on social media is…by telling a story.

What does that mean exactly? Audiences around the world are searching for relevant, credible _______. You fill in the blank. My personal favorite includes making a buying decision based upon someone (typically a stranger) else’s point of view; experiences with customer service, functionality of a product or just overall brand (GUILTY – vacuum cleaners, dog food, vacation spots). From point A to point B somewhere, someone told a story that encouraged a decision.  It has become the can’t live without it way of the world.

Being a marketer, this is a fascinating concept…personalized messages to targeted audiences.  No matter age, gender, interests, habits, location, income, etc.  Social media (and digital advertising) has quickly become the premier outlet for targeted advertisements. Seems pretty simple, right? For the most part, yes however there is a few curveballs to catch.

Be relevant and valuable; have better, smarter, relationships with customers by listening to their thoughts…then respond accordingly
Add visuals; short videos, illustrations or photos are appealing calls to action
Be selective; find something that works, then find it again and again (seek quality content that is engaging).

See what I did there? I captured you to this page by beginning with a story. Thanks for the chat, feel free to browse our site or submit a comment. (Coffee) Cheers.
